Many industries and businesses rely on microbiological monitoring to overcome dangerous pathogens or contaminants.
FREMONT, CA: Environmental testing is underutilized compared to other forms of microbiological testing. Most people would think this type of testing is optional for everyday use. In some cases, that assumption would be accurate. As a pivotal part of many industries and businesses, microbiological monitoring is important in overcoming dangerous pathogens or contaminants.
Most people are surrounded by millions of microorganisms that linger on nearby surfaces or float in the air at any given moment.

Regulations: Many heavily regulated industries, including medical and pharmaceutical manufacturing, rely heavily on environmental monitoring for key information. At a minimum, these businesses must conduct some form of environmental testing regularly to reduce the possibility of employee and patient contamination. There are stiff legal penalties for companies that fail to comply with environmental monitoring standards set by large regulatory organizations such as the FDA. By doing so, manufacturers are deterred from finding ways to avoid undergoing the required testing, and contamination can be dealt with before it becomes a problem for consumers.
Monitoring: It is important to monitor the environment during various construction and building management stages, depending on which process is being carried out. If a clean environment is not properly ensured in public or workplaces, many risks can arise, from possible water contamination to fungal spores in the air. Environmental testing and monitoring are crucial for ensuring trust and security in many aspects of modern society for these reasons, as well as many others, that would require further discussion. However, different industries use this form of testing in different ways and conduct it for reasons that are somewhat unique to their particular field. A close eye on pathogens lingering in certain medical facilities should be evident because of how common healthcare-acquired infections are in many hospitals. The danger this could present for someone with a weakened immune system would be much greater since they can still be infected by something even if there are fewer microcontaminants in the area. Environmental monitoring is a key part of identifying local microcontaminants and preventing their spread to patients and employees in some medical fields.
Manufacturing: Manufacturers face the constant risk of contamination during the manufacturing process. Many pharmaceutical companies manufacture multiple drugs in the same facility, increasing the risk of contamination during manufacturing. Even though they are packaged and sold separately, being housed in the same facility means that all of them could be contaminated if contamination arises and could easily result in dangerous microorganisms being carried in different medicine and packaging. The example above illustrates how this could cause health crises in those who take medicine, such as those who may already be sick or have weakened immune systems which use that medicine.
